Chandigarh, Haryana : In a shocking turn of events, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana has been hit by a wave of resignations after the release of its first list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly Elections. The list, which features 67 candidates, has seemingly upset several veteran leaders and sitting MLAs, leading to a spate of resignations.
Notable among those who have quit the party are:
- Sukhwinder Singh Sheoran, President of BJP Kisan Morcha and former MLA, who announced his resignation on Facebook with a "Bye bye BJP" post.
- Seema Gabipur, BJP state executive member from Ukalana, who has resigned as primary member of the party.
- Vikas alias Bhalle Chairman, BJP Kisan Morcha Charkhi Dadri District President, who has also tendered his resignation.
Additionally, there are rumors that Shamsher Singh Kharkada, BJP's contender from Maham, has quit the party. GL Sharma, BJP state vice president, and Naveen Goyal from Gurugram are also reportedly considering their options, with speculation rife that they may join the Congress.
The resignations come after several sitting MLAs and former MLAs were denied tickets in the first list, with the party leadership seemingly trying to counter an anticipated anti-incumbency wave. However, this move has upset many old leaders of the party, leading to the current crisis.
As the political landscape in Haryana continues to evolve, one thing is certain - the road to the Assembly Elections just got a lot more interesting.
