If there are no representatives, how will the problem be solved? Prithviraj Chavan Demands for immediate elections
Karad / Representative
Elections to local bodies in the state have been pending for more than two years. So in such places administration is done through the administrator. Therefore, in places where there are administrators, it is seen that due to the lack of people's representatives, there are obstacles in solving the problems of the people. Due to this, the former Maharashtra Chief Minister has demanded that the government should immediately conduct the elections of the local self-government bodies. Prithviraj Chavan did in the Legislative Assembly.
Prithviraj Chavan said, in these five years from 2021 to 2025, as per the rules of the fifteenth finance commission, Maharashtra will get a total of 22 thousand 713 crore funds only to the local self-government bodies in the rural areas. But the Central Government has decided that the Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishads where elections have not been held and where there are administrators, this central fund will not be available. Similarly, the Ministry of Rural Development of the state has also issued a government order.
Due to the absence of local self-government elections in rural areas in our state for almost two years, this rightful fund of nearly eight thousand crores of rupees will not be available to the people of rural areas. So my request to the government is that this fund should be received but more importantly elections should be held. The political reservation for elections which we give to SC, ST, OBC has also not been received, we should resolve it immediately and make efforts to hold local body elections and get this fund from the central government. Until these elections are held, we should contact the central government and take the funds which are the right of the state and distribute the funds through MLAs in the local bodies where there are no people's representatives.
