Pune : n a grand celebration of athleticism, teamwork, and the spirit of competition, over 1200 students from 25 schools gathered at the SRPF Grounds for the much-anticipated Mahatma Phule Vidyaniketan Sanstha’s 42nd Inter-School Sports Meet. The event, which took place on Saturday, 14th December 2024 brought together young athletes, dignitaries, educators, and sports enthusiasts for a day of thrilling competitions and camaraderie.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries from the political and educational spheres, who highlighted the significance of sports in shaping young minds.
The opening ceremony saw prominent figures like, Padmakar Parkhe, Pravin Doshi, Dr. Pravin Deore, Ashirwad Tupe, Ashok Balgude, Archana Gojmugunde, Nanabhau Mali, Yogesh Sasane, along with the Founder of the Institute Ratan Mali, President Smita Wagh and Secretary Ravindra Wagh. They emphasized that sports not only promote physical fitness but also help in the overall development of students, teaching them valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
Speaking at the event, Smita Wagh, President shared her vision of integrating more sporting activities into the school curriculum. "Sports are an essential aspect of a child's education. It instills qualities that go beyond the classroom, fostering leadership and team spirit, which are crucial for success in life," she remarked.
The day was filled with exciting competitions across a variety of events, including traditional games like Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, and Throwball, as well as indoor games such as Chess and Carrom. The energy on the field was palpable, with students displaying great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Track and field events, including sprints, relays, and long jumps, brought out the competitive spirit in every participant, ensuring a memorable experience for all.
The students competed not only for victory but for the pride of their schools. The dedication and hard work of the athletes were evident throughout the day, with the competition reaching its peak during the track events. Each race was met with cheers from enthusiastic spectators, as students raced towards the finish line, representing their schools with pride.
As the event drew to a close, certificates and awards were presented to the winners and participants by Sushil Shingade , Ajit Delcy, Sushma Tai Konde, Atul Salagre, Ravindra Khedekar, Madanlal Darda , Shilpa tai Khandagale , Motilal Shah, Popatlal Singhvi , Ujjwala Bibve and Geeta Mohite. The awards ceremony was a highlight of the day, recognizing the achievements of the top athletes in various categories.
The event was compered by Anand Dhalpe, Vaishali Shimpi , Vaishali Bhagat and Vandana Patil with coordination provided by Abhay Patil.
