President Droupadi Murmu Inaugurates Vishwashanti Buddha Vihar in Maharashtra's Latur!
Latur - President Droupadi Murmu today inaugurated the Vishwashanti Buddha Vihar at Udgir in Maharashtra's Latur district, marking a significant milestone in promoting peace, harmony, and spiritual growth in the region.
The inaugural event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, State Ministers Sanjay Bansode and Aditi Tatkare, and members of All India Bhikkhu Sangha.
The President, who arrived in Nanded earlier today, was flown to Udgir in a helicopter for the event. Following the inauguration, a prayer ceremony was conducted, setting the tone for a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
The Vishwashanti Buddha Vihar is a replica of a similar establishment in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, and has been built on 1.15 hectares of land, accommodating up to 1,200 people. The entry gate is inspired by the design of the Sanchi Stupa in Madhya Pradesh, adding to the Vihar's architectural significance.
The statue of Lord Buddha installed at the Buddha Vihar weighs 520 kilograms and stands 10.5 feet tall, serving as a symbol of peace and tranquility.
The inauguration of Vishwashanti Buddha Vihar is a testament to the government's commitment to promoting spiritual growth, harmony, and peace in the region.
