CBI FILES CASE AGAINST ANIL DESHMUKH FOR ALLEGEDLY PRESSURING POLICE TO FRAME GIRISH MAHAJAN

Jalgaon : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh for allegedly pressuring the police to implicate Minister Girish Mahajan in a false case.

The case stems from an alleged kidnapping incident in Pune, which led to a case being registered against Mahajan. The then Superintendent of Police, Praveen Munde, told the CBI that Deshmukh repeatedly contacted him to influence the investigation in Jalgaon.

This development has come as a shock to the Maha Vikas Aghadi, especially with assembly elections looming. Former Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis had previously alleged in the legislative assembly that attempts were made to falsely implicate Mahajan when the Maha Vikas Aghadi was in power. Fadnavis had presented audio evidence, including a pen drive with recordings from three locations, including the office of then Special Public Prosecutor Praveen Chavan. The CBI has also registered a case against Chavan in connection with this matter.

Deshmukh has been accused of pressuring the police to frame Mahajan, and the CBI's case against him may have significant implications in the upcoming elections.
