Centre Assures Supreme Court of Implementing Expert Committee's Recommendations on NEET-UG Exam!
New Delh : The Indian government has assured the Supreme Court that it will implement the recommendations of an expert committee tasked with reviewing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) exam.
The assurance was given by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, before a bench of Justice PS Narasimha and Justice Manoj Mishra. The court has adjourned the case for three months and directed the listing of the case in April.
The expert committee, headed by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan, was constituted to investigate incidents such as security breaches and distribution of incorrect question papers during the NEET-UG exam. The committee has submitted its report, and the government has agreed to implement its recommendations.
The NEET-UG exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is a crucial entrance test for medical undergraduate programs. Over 23 lakh students appeared for the exam in 2024.
The Supreme Court's decision comes after it dismissed a petition seeking a re-conduct of the NEET-UG exam last August, citing insufficient evidence of paper leaks or tampering.
