Justice BV Nagaratna can become the first woman Chief Justice of the country

Justice of Karnataka High Court. BV Nagaratna's name has been recommended by a Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice NV Raman, who is expected to become India's first woman Chief Justice in 2027.
The Collegium has recommended the names of a total of 9 judges. It also includes the name of Justice Nagaratna.
Justice Nagaratna has been appointed as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court in 2008. Two years later, she was elected a permanent judge.
If Justice Nagaratna is appointed as the Chief Justice, she will only get a term of one month. However, her appointment as Chief Justice will be a historic moment. She will be the first woman Chief Justice of India. Her father. ES Venkatramaiah was the Chief Justice of India from June to December 1989.
