In a proud moment for Maharashtra’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, Aniket Gorakh Mind, a young and dynamic agritech innovator from Baramati, has secured the top honor at the prestigious 'Startup Maharathi Challenge' a national-level competition recognizing groundbreaking startups. His startup, Spark Agro, was lauded for its exceptional contributions to the agritech sector, earning him a subsidy of ₹10 lakh as financial support to further scale his venture.
A National Triumph Among 3,500 Startups
The competition, held in New Delhi witnessed fierce participation from 3,500 startups across India, making Aniket’s achievement even more remarkable. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal felicitated him during the award ceremony, commending his innovative approach to solving challenges faced by small-scale farmers.
From Farming Roots to Agri-Innovation
Hailing from Hol village in Baramati taluka Aniket grew up in a farming family, witnessing firsthand the struggles of agricultural laborers and the financial burdens of traditional farming methods. This inspired him to develop low-cost, high-efficiency farming tools to empower small and marginal farmers.
After completing his Mechanical Engineering in Pune, Aniket initially ventured into the motorsports industry. However, his deep-rooted connection to agriculture and a desire to uplift farmers led him to pivot towards agritech. In 2016, he founded Spark Agro, an agricultural machinery startup based in Baramati MIDC, focusing on affordable and durable farm equipment.
Revolutionizing Farming with Affordable Tech
Spark Agro specializes in manufacturing two wheelar tractors and distributing a range of agricultural machinery, including:
- Power Tillers
- Power Weeders
- Spray Pumps
- Other cost-effective farming tools
Leveraging e-commerce platforms like Shopify, the startup has rapidly expanded its reach, making its products accessible to farmers across India.
Overcoming Challenges with Resilience
Like many startups, Spark Agro faced significant hurdles during the COVID-19 pandemic, disrupting supply chains and operations. However, Aniket’s perseverance, innovative mindset, and hands-on experience in rural farming helped him navigate these challenges.
