Maharashtra Cabinet Meeting Decisions: The state cabinet has taken 7 important decisions in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today. Important decisions have been taken for the Home, Revenue, Urban Development and Law and Justice departments in the meeting held today. Some important decisions have also been taken for the Urban Development department of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. One of them is the approval of the provisions for the removal of mayors of municipal councils, municipal panchayats and industrial towns by majority vote. For this, the Maharashtra Municipal Council, Municipal Panchayat and Industrial Towns Act, 1965 will be amended.
Also, amendments to the Maharashtra Municipal Council, Municipal Panchayat and Industrial Towns Act, 1965 will be made in the meeting held today. It has been decided to implement the Abhay scheme to partially waive off the penalty on property tax in the municipal council, municipal panchayat and industrial town areas for tax collection. Along with this, changes have also been approved in the rules for transfer of immovable properties in municipal council, municipal panchayat and industrial town.
On the other hand, in the meeting held today, it has been decided to amend the provisions of sections 30(3), 72 and 80 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, regarding the interest rates to be charged on delayed payment of land acquisition compensation for the Revenue and Forest Department.
On the other hand, the decision to start an engineering degree course from the academic year 2025-26 at Puranmal Lahoti Government Technical College in Latur has been taken in the cabinet meeting for the Higher and Technical Education Department. For the Home Department, a policy has been approved for providing compensation in cases of death in custody of a prisoner as per the directions of the National Human Rights Commission. And for the Law and Justice Department, a decision has been taken in this meeting. For the Law and Justice Department, a Civil Court Junior Level Magistrate First Class Court will be established at Chikhloli-Ambernath, District Thane and posts will be approved accordingly.
