Violence again in Manipur, curfew imposed, schools and markets closed!
Manipur Violence : Even after the imposition of President's rule in Manipur, violence has not stopped. Incidents of violence continue to occur. Even now, an incident of violence has taken place. Due to this, a curfew has been imposed in the Churachandpur district of the state. District Collector Dharun Kumar has ordered. The curfew will be imposed in two villages of the district and Kangwai, Samulamalan, Sangaikot areas till April 17.
What is the real reason for the conflict
The dispute in Kharantar took place on March 18. A scuffle broke out between Jomi and Hamar supporters in Churachandpur. One person died in the clash between the two groups. Some people were injured. One person climbed a mobile tower, removed the Jomi flag and threw it on the ground. This is why the dispute escalated. Seeing that the situation was escalating, the village officials immediately called a meeting. In this meeting, it was decided to impose a curfew. People were appealed to maintain peace. There is a land dispute going on in both the villages. It was said at this time that the dispute will be resolved through talks.
Meanwhile, President's rule was imposed in Manipur in the month of February itself. Because in May 2023, there was a dispute between the Kuki and Maitai communities. Due to this, major violence broke out in different parts of the state. 250 people were killed in this violence. There were large-scale incidents of stone pelting and arson. Thousands of people from both the communities were displaced due to violence and tension.
After failing to bring the situation under control, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned on February 9, 2025. After this, the Central Government imposed President's rule in Manipur under Article 356 of the Constitution of India. The resignation of the Chief Minister was accepted and the state assembly was dissolved. Now two months have passed since the President's rule began. After that, while the situation in the state was gradually improving, violence has broken out again.
