Grand Ambedkar Memorial Should Be Built In Pune - Athawale

Pune : Union Minister of state for social justice Minister Ramdas Athawale said here on Saturday that two-acre plot is vacant behind Ambedkar Bhavan near Pune Railway Station and a grand Ambedkar memorial should  built on this site.

Addressing the press conference here on Saturday Athawale said that he will discuss the matter with Chief Minister Fadnavis. Although this site is being sought for a cancer hospital, another site should be selected for the hospital. He is not opposed to the construction of the hospital. It is necessary to build a hospital. However, he clarified that he is insistent that a grand Ambedkar memorial be built on the site near Ambedkar Bhavan.

He said that in  the Mahabodhi Trust in Mahagaya, as per the 1949 law, there is a rule to give representation to some people from the Hindu religion. However, representatives of other religions are not included in any other religious trust. Similarly, there is a demand that the Mahabodhi Trust should also be given completely to the trustees of the Buddhist community. This demand is supported by the Republican Party. A nationwide movement is going on for this demand.  The Republican Party will also protest in all districts, talukas and important cities of the state from March 10 to 19 for this demand. No one needs to politicize this demand, said Athawale.

150 to 200 acres of land is required for the Bhima Koregaon Vijay Memorial. However, the process for this has not yet picked up speed. He said that he will meet Chief Minister Fadnavis for this too. Athawale also suggested that the plan of this memorial should be prepared by the District Collector and Social Justice Officer and submitted to the state government as soon as possible.

The Republican Party has focused on organization building and growth. In this regard, a camp for 800 to 1000 important activists from across the state has been organized in Lonavala on April 9. Similarly, a social harmony meeting has been organized on May 18.

He said that prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most popular leader in the country. The Mahayuti is getting a huge response from the people in the state and the National Democratic Alliance across the country. Therefore, it will not be possible for Rahul Gandhi to remove Modi. The Indi Aghadi at the Center and the Maha Vikas Aghadi in the state have come to a complete standstill. He also expressed confidence that Modi will remain the Prime Minister after the next Lok Sabha elections.

Athawale strongly condemned the increasing cases of atrocities and humiliation against women.
