Mumbai - The Mahavikas Aghadi alliance, comprising the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), and Congress, has finalized its seat allocation for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections.
According to sources, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena will contest 100-105 seats across the state, while the Congress is likely to receive around 100 seats. The NCP, led by Sharad Pawar, will contest 80 seats, focusing on winnable constituencies.
In Mumbai, the Shiv Sena has emerged as the dominant force, with 13 seats allocated to the party. The Congress will contest eight seats, while the NCP and Samajwadi Party will share one seat each.
The alliance has resolved seat disputes in 23 of Mumbai's 36 constituencies, with the remaining seats expected to be finalized soon. Key allocations include:
- Shiv Sena: Worli, Shivdi, Chembur, Kalina, Andheri East, Dindoshi, Vikhroli, Bhandup West
- Congress: Mumbadevi, Dharavi, Bandra West, Malad West, Chandivali, Kandivali East
- NCP: Ghatkopar East
- Samajwadi Party: Shivajinagar
Union Home Minister Amit Shah's ongoing Maharashtra tour aims to determine the grand alliance's seat allocation formula.
The Mahavikas Aghadi's strategic seat distribution reflects the parties' commitment to a united effort in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly Elections.
"This seat allocation demonstrates our coalition's strength and unity," said a senior Mahavikas Aghadi leader. "We are confident that our combined efforts will yield positive results in the upcoming elections."
The Maharashtra Assembly Elections are scheduled to take place later this year, with the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance poised to face off against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led coalition.
