The Drug Regulatory Authority (DCGI) has agreed to conduct research on a combination of covacaine and covishield, the most widely used corona vaccine in India. The research and tests will be conducted at Christian College in Vellore, said a member of the NITI commission. Dr. V K Paul. He claims that this research is different from the research done by ICMR. ICMR claims that the combination of these two vaccines is more effective and efficient.
Eighteen people from Uttar Pradesh have been selected for the experiment conducted by ICMR. Of these, 11 are men and the rest are women. They were given the first dose of Covishield vaccine and the second dose of Covacin six weeks later. The ICMR has observed that this mixed vaccine increases immunity to a greater extent. Research has shown that it is safe to give two different vaccines.
However, the ICMR has also clarified that the criteria used for the experiment on only 18 people were not sufficient. The institute also said that more in-depth research is needed in this regard. More in-depth research is needed to understand the limitations of mixed vaccines, the organization said
