Ever since the announcement of JungKook’s documentary ‘I Am Still’ Army’s alike myself have been waiting for its release and now that its in theatres globally, our admiration and love for our youngest keeps on growing. The movie begins with him working on his solo debut song ‘Seven’ ft Latto and with its release came an immense amount of love and support, topping charts left to right in the U.S! but what was going to be his next step?
This movie showcases how within a year before his military enlistment, JungKook is able to unlock his potential as a soloist but also a person whilst making GOLDEN memories.
“Jung Kook became the first Asian solo artist to debut at No.1 on three major global charts – the Billboard HOT 100, Global 200, and Global 200 Excl. US – simultaneously upon release. His singles ‘Seven,’ ‘3D (feat. Jack Harlow),’ and ‘Standing Next to You’ all reached the top 10 of the Billboard HOT 100, making him the only K-pop solo artist to achieve this feat. His album ‘GOLDEN’ also made history by staying on the Billboard 200 for 24 consecutive weeks.”
Since it was his first time as a soloist working with international composers and artists, we could understand the nerves he might’ve felt because ever since Dynamite, BTS has worked together as a whole when making new songs but since its him, JungKook was definitely nervous about weather he’ll be able to take his first steps. And as always, performing his new single made him at ease cause Army’s are at his side. He has always said that with Army he feels energised and we could definitely see how hard working and passionate he was when it came to grasping every opportunity he had even if he was facing minor physical tiredness, he didn’t stop and he came back with ‘3D ft Jack Harlow’
His steps within the industry as the both worlds collided made him seen as ‘JungKook’ with so much attention onto him there’s always a tint of thought which might have been at the back of his mind that “Come what may, I’m not stopping” and with that mindset which he has developed from his experience or from other BTS members experiences we understand how he’s able to evolve and dissolve like a tidal flow. Therefore its about his flexibility. Now after his two singles, we got a full length album in English. ‘GOLDEN’.
The pure amount of excitement and ripples it caused within Armys when it was announced made us only anticipate the impact it was going to cause and thus ‘Standing Next To You’ was born. JungKook from its first hearing felt a deep connection towards the song, he said that he could imagine performing it on stage and a new drive to achieve that vision made him strive for it. This documentary truly showed how much he’s able to take the lead of his journey while still being so humble about his achievements, makes us realise that he truly deserves it. The documentary had a good pacing as well, with performances of his songs. Every member has impactful story to tell and JungKook did the same. At the end of the movie, I and everyone else were filled with feelings we couldn’t comprehend maybe seeing him work hard made us too work hard for our dreams and that’s why he’s an inspiration to so many. The movie began with nerves of making a big decision and acting upon it and it ended with fulfilment and gratitude towards Armys and BTS members. JungKook with his melodious voice has gripped the hearts of many and so did his journey of self reflection as an artist who makes waves of ‘Bass and Drums’ in the industry.
If I wasn’t a singer, would I have brought an album to support them? Who would’ve I liked? I wonder”
BTS songs have always been close to our hearts, but there’s something about ‘Magic Shop’ that feels like a sweetest dream and when we wake up, we walk into the world with a smile. This was his last song to perform in set list and listening to it as the members voice also plays brought tears to our eyes, knowing he’ll be the last person to leave for his service must overwhelmed him with emotions and us too but it was temporary goodbye till we come together once again and shine brightest in the universe.
