The Election Commission of India toured Maharashtra in connection with the Assembly Election 2024 in the state. On this occasion, the Collector of Solapur, Kumar Ashirwad, taking note of the preparations and planning for women voter registration and use of village security system to increase the percentage of voting, suggested that all the District Collectors of the state should plan like Solapur in their districts.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar praised the Collector of Solapur for taking care of himself in the work of assembly elections and for increasing the percentage of voting and making preparations and planning with social consciousness in a very efficient manner to conduct all the polling process properly.

Women Voter Registration

Collector Kumar Ashirwad conducted camps through Talathi, Gram Sevak, Asha Worker and Anganwadi Sevika Mahila Bhat Gat in villages where women voter registration is less than 927 gender ratio. This planning has been done to register the newly married women in the village. District Magistrate, Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar visited the respective polling station and tried to register maximum number of women as voters. This has helped to increase the general ratio of voter list from 931 to 948.

Village Security System

On the day of polling, the statistics are released every two hours and in the villages and polling stations where the turnout is low, the Collector and Election Returning Officer themselves will make a phone call to remind them to vote through the village security system. It is also planned to appeal to the actual voters to vote through Talathi Gram Sevak BLO. Messages will be sent to vote on WhatsApp groups of each village.

The Chief Election Commissioner took note of the planning to increase the voting percentage through the registration of women voters and the village security system. The planning has been done well as Collector Kumar Ashirwad is paying attention to this work along with other election related work. At the beginning Collector Ashirwad presented the various work done by the Solapur District Election Administration in connection with the Assembly Election before the Commission.
