Polling staff travel by boat to reach Gharpuri polling station

Gharapuri...a historical place on the sea where tourists travel by boat from Mumbai's Gateway of India to see the Elephanta Caves. But today the polling staff traveled by sea to set up the polling station for the Lok Sabha elections..!
The voting process for the general election in Maval Lok Sabha Constituency will be held on Monday 13th May from 7 am to 6 pm and the process of distribution of voting material has started from 8 am today from the place determined according to the Assembly Constituency. Ballot units, control units and VVPAT machines required for voting were handed over to the polling team. Also, necessary materials, copies of various reports and guidelines were handed over to the team for carrying out the voting process. Transportation arrangements were also made to take these teams to the designated polling stations.
Uran Vidhan Sabha Constituency falls in this Lok Sabha constituency area. Distribution of voting materials for polling booths in Uran Constituency was done from DB Patil Mangal office in Jasai. Gharapuri polling station is number 58 out of this. This polling station on an island in the Arabian Sea has a total population of 809 voters including 389 males and 420 females.
Separate field officers have been appointed for this polling station. 1 Polling Station President, 2 Polling Officers, 1 Polling Assistant seized the voting materials from Uran today. This team of polling staff accompanied by police force first came to JNPT harbor by jeep and from there directly reached this polling station at Gharapuri by boat with voting material.
As every voter is important in the democratic process, the polling team traveled by sea using a boat to reach Gharapuri polling station in Uran Assembly Constituency. The polling staff covered this distance of travel and delivered the material to the polling station. Uran Vidhan Sabha Constituency Assistant Election Returning Officer Janardhan Kasar was keeping an eye on all these developments.
The role of these employees is important so that every eligible voter of the country can participate in this great festival of democracy. Polling staff in the district as well as other parts of the state are performing their duty in various situations and are trying to make citizens participate in this festival.
